Botox Injections for Injured Federal Workers
Botox injections are not currently covered by the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act (FECA) for injured federal workers. However, there are some cases where Botox injections may be medically necessary for the treatment of a work-related injury, such as a facial paralysis or spasticity. If you are a federal worker who has been injured on the job and believe that Botox injections may be medically necessary for your treatment, you should file a claim with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP). An OWCP claims examiner will review your claim and determine whether Botox injections are medically necessary for your treatment. If the examiner determines that Botox injections are medically necessary, OWCP will cover the cost of the injections.
It is important to note that OWCP will only cover the cost of Botox injections if they are medically necessary for the treatment of a work-related injury. If you are seeking Botox injections for cosmetic purposes, similar to Zepbound & IV treatments, OWCP will not cover the cost.
If you have any questions about whether Botox injections may be covered by FECA for your work-related injury, you should contact OWCP at 1-800-WORKERS (1-800-967-5377).
